Your Hiring Process Is On Display
Recently, a couple of my friends were interviewing for jobs. The only reason I know this is because they told EVERYONE.
Whatever happened to changing jobs being a private affair???
Since the interview process at most companies is multiple steps and takes forever, I got to hear about the good, the bad and the ugly over the course of several weeks.
While I could probably write a 5,000 word article about all the bad things I heard, I think it's sufficient to just make a singular point -- your hiring process is on display.
If you have candidates in your interview process, they're telling their inner and their outer circle about their experience in more detail and through more channels than ever before.
It's up to you to design a process that makes the stories that are told as good as possible. It takes a lot of work but with the unemployment rate in the US hovering around 3%, you need to treat candidates like royalty now or you won't have any candidates left to interview.
